Port of Virginia Unaffected by Arthur

Port of Virginia Unaffected by Arthur
The  Virginia Maritime Association (VMA) said it was closely monitoring the movement of Hurricane Arthur and was taking precautionary steps to prepare the terminals at the Port of Virginia for any eventuality.

Unlike Port of Wilmington and Port of Morehead City, that closed for traffic and were bracing for impact yesterday, the Virgina Port had no changes to its operating hours.

Based on the Port’s monitoring data, the hurricane was following a path east of the port.

The Port may experience some tropical storm conditions beginning early Friday morning, which may include strong winds and storm surge but the port is closed today in recognition of the U.S.Independence Day, VMA explained.

Port terminals, including PMT, NNMT, Port of Richmond and the Virginia Inland Port, are set to reopen on Monday, July 7.
