Preparations for Europe’s leading annual subsea conference and exhibition are well underway with up to 5,000 delegates expected to attend from across the globe, reaffirming the world-leading status of the British subsea supply chain.

Subsea Expo will run from 5-7th February at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre. The event will see over 170 subsea companies exhibiting their products and services and a packed conference programme with high profile industry speakers delivering leadership messages at the plenary session and technology showcases covering subjects such as fields of the future, integrity management, deepwater construction, ROV/survey and production and flow assurance.

Organisers, Subsea UK, will use the event to launch its ambitious vision for 2014.

Neil Gordon, chief executive of Subsea UK, said: “As Subsea UK enters its tenth year, we will be looking to increase our connectivity with global subsea hubs to ensure that we promote British subsea capabilities far and wide, identifying opportunities for our members and helping them further their global reach. The UK captures 45% of the global subsea market – £8.9billion – a figure which is increasing rapidly and our focus will be on helping our members resource for that growth and ensuring we retain our world-leading position.

“As Subsea UK hits its tenth anniversary in 2014, our flagship event, now re-branded as Subsea Expo, has grown from a small gathering of 200 people to a globally recognised, must-attend” event for anyone and everyone in subsea. It will showcase the best of British talent and technology in subsea and provide an ideal platform for learning about new developments and technologies and international market opportunities as well as networking with all the industry’s leading decision-makers.”

Subsea Expo continues to attract major sponsorship from the industry. KD Marine is the headline event sponsor with Shell supporting the conference. Other sponsors are Wood Group Kenny, Stork and Fugro.

For the first time, the event will extend to three days with the final day offering an opportunity to engage with the next generation of subsea engineers, project managers and technicians.

The “getting into subsea” session on Friday 7th of February will offer a series of interactive sessions led by industry professionals and aimed at learners from schools, colleges and universities.

“There will be a host of opportunities for school leavers, graduates and former military personnel as well as other individuals interested in a career in subsea with the sessions designed to inform about the routes into the sector.

“Ultimately our success is down to our people. Subsea Expo will not only showcase the incredible talent that has seen our sector become the envy of the world, but will look to engage the next generation of engineers, project managers and ROV pilots ensuring our industry can meet the challenges of a global market.”
