Presentation of Catamaran Seafox at Port of Ostend (Belgium)

On Friday November 8th the French shipbuilder NAVALU visited the port of Ostend. NAVALU presented its catamaran SEAFOX. This offshore wind farm service vessel is a catamaran with an aluminium hull.

On Wednesday September 18th 2013 NAVALU shipyard managed successfully the sea launch of the SEAFOX at the coast of Vendeé in France. SEAFOX is on her way to the German offshore wind farms. SEAFOX is the first aluminium offshore wind farm service vessel built in France with Bureau Veritas approval, and dedicated to a British shipowner (Enviroserve Ltd) set up in Lowestoft (Suffolk) in North Sea.

The main characteristics of this catamaran in aluminum hull are: 24 meters length by 9.90 meters beam with 1.75 meter draft at the safran and a 72 ton light weight. The aim of this catamaran is to transport up to 12 technicians and 12 tons cargo in the same time, in high speeds for Offshore Wind Farm installation and maintenance, thanks to its 4 powerful main engines (4 by 600 HP each).

The 1st trial at sea of the SeaFox allowed to valid the waterlines of this catamaran and the high speed performances which exceeded 24 knots with 90% of the main engine powerful rate despite the unsuitable sea sailing conditions in the Atlantic Sea. The SeaFox also showed an excellent sea keeping.
