Prysmian Secures Contracts for Three Offshore Wind Farms in France

Prysmian Group has secured inter-array cable contracts worth over EUR 220 million for three offshore wind farms in France.

Eolien Maritime France (EMF) has awarded Prysmian with the design, supply and installation of inter-array cables for the Fécamp and Courseulles-sur-Mer offshore wind farms, owned by EMF and wpd offshore. These contracts, worth over EUR 200 million, are expected to proceed in early autumn.

The third contract is for the Saint Nazaire offshore wind farm, also owned by Eolien Maritime France, and is currently in the process of being secured by a consortium between Prysmian and Louis Dreyfus Travocean. Prysmian’s share of this contract will be in excess of EUR 20 million.

For the three projects, Prysmian will provide 33kV three–core submarine cable systems with XLPE insulation with a total of around 345km of cables for the three wind farms.

The 498MW Fécamp project will involve connecting 83 wind turbines, while the 450MW Courseulles-sur-Mer has an array of 75 turbines. For the 480MW Saint-Nazaire wind farm, Prysmian will provide cable, accessories and terminating services for connecting 80 wind turbines.

On Fécamp and Courseulles-sur-Mer, Prysmian will deliver a turnkey solution and will both supply and install all inter-array cables. Delivery and commissioning of the cables are expected during the period 2020-2022, depending on the individual project timelines.

Eolien Maritime France, a joint venture between EDF Energies Nouvelles and Enbridge, and wpd offshore are waiting for the decision of the French Council of State on the appeal against the projects’ authorisations to start construction.
