PSA Carries Out Audit of Statoil’s Skrugard Development in Norway

On 3 and 4 April 2013, the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) carried out an audit of Statoil’s work to specify meteorological and oceanographic conditions for the Skrugard development.

Background

The Skrugard development will be the northernmost development on the Norwegian shelf. The facilities on the Skrugard field will then to a greater extent than previous developments be impacted by cold climate, particularly icing, sea ice and icebergs.

Objective

The objective of the audit was to verify through random checks that Statoil was preparing a reasonable and documented description of the meteorological and oceanographic conditions in the area, in compliance with applicable regulations.

Result

No nonconformities were identified.

Improvement items were identified in connection with:

– routines for quality control of software

– data analysis
