Puerto Rico Imported 12 LNG Cargoes in H1

The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico imported 12 liquefied natural gas cargoes in the first half of this year, according to the U.S. DOE data.

Puerto Rico imports LNG from Trinidad and Tobago via a regasification terminal and combined cycle power plant located in the Guayanilla Bay, near Peñuelas. Howewer, one LNG cargo in June was sourced from Nigeria, the data showed.

Excelerate Energy and the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA) have recently filed a formal application with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to build and operate a floating offshore liquefied natural gas regasification facility off the southern coast of Puerto Rico.
