Qatar: RasGas Donates IT Equipment to UNESCO

E-learning and e-literacy are familiar terms for the way in which today’s students use reading and writing skills to communicate with people in our technology driven society. Developments in computer technology, formal teaching methods and the ways in which students learn and develop skills for their future careers are changing almost everyday.

Under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, RasGas Company Limited (RasGas) recently donated a large number of laptop computers and PC units, and allocated additional funding for new computer monitors, to UNESCO, (the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization), working within Qatar.

RasGas is committed to supporting educational initiatives in Qatar. With an increased emphasis on e-literacy, RasGas is proud to support UNESCO’s educational projects within local communities.

In addition to donating these items to UNESCO, RasGas employees helped to deliver and set up the computers and laptops for the students as part of the RasGas Employee Volunteer programme.

Dr. Hamed Al Hammami, UNESCO Director, thanked RasGas for their ongoing support stating, “UNESCO’s goal is to empower people with access to education, and provide them with the tools for access to information and knowledge. Students are our future, and we are grateful for RasGas’ continued support of our activities in the field of education.”

RasGas proactively supports education, working with schools, universities and other institutions to meet the needs of students and educators. In addition to the company’s CSR initiatives, RasGas also implements training activities, internship programmes and an annual Scholarship Programme for gifted high school graduates and undergraduate students.
