Qatar: RasGas Donates to Local Charities

Three local organisations recently received donations through the RasGas Sunduk Al Kheir charity fund, amounting to a total of QR 1.3 million following the 2011 6th Annual RasGas Charity Gala Dinner.

The beneficiaries of the donation were the Qatar Society for Rehabilitation and Special Needs, Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) Pediatric Unit and Qatar Foundation for Elderly People Care. Through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, RasGas is determined to make a long-term, proactive and positive contribution to the life of Qatar’s communities and the three organisations were selected as they represent society across all generations and circumstances, helping people lead a healthy and active life.

The QR 1.3 million was presented at an official handover ceremony recently, with Hamad Rashid Al Mohannadi, RasGas Managing Director, Tom Mc Hale, Group Finance Manager, senior management and members of the RasGas Golf Committee who organise the event each year, along with senior representatives of the beneficiaries in attendance.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Al Mohannadi said: “RasGas has dedicated 2011 as its Year of the Community and we are proud to collaborate with these esteemed organisations to help people across all generations and circumstances. I would also like to thank RasGas’ shareholders, customers, suppliers and employees for their incredible generosity in raising such a substantial sum for these worthy causes.”

Funds donated to Hamad Medical Corporation will help the hospital refurbish two pediatric unit children’s play-areas and provide additional healthcare services to sick children from underprivileged families across all nationalities.

Dr. Hassan Al Ansari, Board Member of the Qatar Society for Rehabilitation of Special Needs, added: “RasGas’ continued support to our society will help us achieve our goals and the ongoing mission to support and assist people with disabilities, meet their needs, integrate them in the society and provide them with appropriate medical equipment“.

Mr. Mohammed Mubarak Al Naimi, Executive Director of Marketing and Public Relations at HMC, commented: “I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks and gratitude to the RasGas Sunduk Al Kheir for the generous donation as part of their CSR programme“. He added: “Hamad Medical Corporation is working to provide medical services efficiently and according to the highest standards in force in the world.”

The donation to the Qatar Foundation for Elderly People Care will support its work of providing healthcare, social activities and psychological support to the elderly and their families. Mr. Yousef Mohammed Al Muftah, General Director of the Foundation, noted: “This considerable donation will make a great contribution to our continued work to support the elderly in our community and their families“.
