RasGas Showcases at 20th World Petroleum Congress

RasGas is a key sponsor of the prestigious five-day 20th World Petroleum Congress (WPC), commencing in Doha today. 

Members of RasGas senior management team will chair key sessions and participate in the panels of different discussions in the conference. As part of the conference’s technical programme, RasGas engineers and experts will present several papers and posters on topics ranging from the latest technological developments in the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) value chain to sustainability and energy efficiency.

Hamad Rashid Al Mohannadi, Managing Director of RasGas, will chair the inaugural forum on Monday 5 December 2011 titled, “Natural Gas: The Energy That Makes A Difference.” In the same forum, Nafez Bseiso, RasGas Venture Group Manager, will present a paper titled, “Application of technological advancements in LNG value chain.”

Around 170 delegates from RasGas will participate in this international conference and exhibition.  RasGas has a specially designed stand at the WPC exhibition centre that will showcase its capabilities in deliverability, operational excellence, innovative technologies, environmental commitment and safety.

Some of the other keynote speakers from RasGas are Brett Doherty, RasGas Safety, Health, Environment and Quality Group Manager, and Laurent Fragu, Environmental Engineering Specialist.  On Monday 5 December, Doherty, will present a paper titled, “Societal Contribution Using a Sustainability Approach: Combining a Company’s CSR programme and HSE Management System to Benefit the Community.” On the same day, Fragu will present a paper titled, “Climate Change Strategy Development: A Premier Middle East LNG Producer Perspective.”  And on Tuesday 6 December, Doherty will talk at a special session titled, “WPC-IPIECA Oil and Gas Industry Guidance on Voluntary Sustainability Reporting.”

In addition to participating in the Congress and Exhibition, on 6 December, RasGas will jointly host a special cultural programme called “Arabian Nights” at Katara Valley of Cultures. Visitors will be able to experience the traditional Arabian Souq and cuisine served on the beach adjoining the Katara Valley of Cultures.

All RasGas’ technical posters will be on display at the Digital Poster Plaza located in Exhibition Hall 8, Stand 8204.

Supporting Qatar as first Middle East host

RasGas further demonstrated its support to the State of Qatar and Qatar Petroleum as the first Middle East host of the prestigious 20th World Petroleum Congress, by installing an enormous outdoor banner on their brand new headquarters in West Bay, Doha. The outdoor banner weighs around 1.1 tonnes and is one of the largest banners to be installed in the country.
