Qatar ships LNG cargo to Thailand

Thailand’s Map Ta Phut LNG terminal is scheduled to receive a cargo of liquefied natural gas from Qatar near the end of the month.

According to shipping data, the 217,000 cbm Al Shamal LNG carrier departed Qatar’s Ras Laffan LNG complex on March 9. The 2008-built vessel is expected to arrive at the Map Ta Phut terminal around March 21.

Owned by PTT LNG, the terminal has a 5 mtpa of liquefied natural gas per year capacity.

In December 2012, Qatargas and PTT signed a sale and purchase agreement for the delivery of two million tons per year of LNG over a 20-year term. The first cargo from Qatar to Map Ta Phut under the SPA was delivered in January last year.
