QGC Contract Goes to Spotless Group

QGC Pty Limited, developer of the Queensland Curtis LNG Project, has awarded a management and maintenance contract to Spotless Group Limited for two construction worker villages in the Surat Basin.

Under the contract, worth about A$45 million, Spotless Group will seek local providers and personnel for goods and services wherever possible.

Spotless Group will provide catering, cleaning and maintenance services and recreational facilities for construction villages 40km west of Dalby and 30km south-west of Wandoan.

Senior Vice President QCLNG Alexander (Sandy) Nairn said: “These villages will not only support 1,650 people working on our Queensland Curtis LNG Project, they will support business services and their employees in the region.

Spotless Group is expected to have more than 140 staff working on site when the villages are at full capacity.”

Spotless Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Josef Farnik said support services to promote a healthy lifestyle including advice on fitness, weight loss and nutrition would be available at the sites.

Mr Farnik said: “We are keen to engage with the regional communities and wherever possible we will seek local food supplies and labour.”

The contract starts in April this year and runs until the end of 2014.
