QTEC Moves to New Premises. Increases Workforce (UK)

Independent oil and gas service company QTEC International has moved offices in Aberdeen and increased its shore-based workforce with the appointment of two new staff members.

The firm has agreed a two-year lease of 1,500 square feet of office space at Bridge House on Riverside Drive to accommodate its growing workforce. QTEC currently employs seven staff onshore and 27 staff offshore, and anticipates that its offshore workforce of drilling environmental management engineers will rise further in the short term.

QTEC recently announced that it is on target to record its busiest year in its 20-year history. This growth has been a result of increasing overseas demand for its services, and oil and gas operators focusing more closely on spill prevention and ongoing environmental management.

Blair Thomson and Rachel Spink have joined the company as technical manager and office administrator respectively. Blair brings 25 years’ drilling and environmental experience from both UK and international sectors. Rachel will oversee the day to day running of the office and help to coordinate the travel arrangements for the firm’s offshore workforce.

Bill Walkingshaw, general manager of QTEC International, said: “QTEC’s move to new premises is a significant step for the company and provides us with additional space for further expansion. Over the past two years we have seen operators place a greater emphasis on spill prevention and ongoing environmental management – a trend we expect will continue going forward.

“I’m very pleased to welcome Rachel and Blair to the team at QTEC and know they will make an extremely valuable contribution to the company’s operations and future growth. As we continue to work in more provinces around the world, both will play important roles in delivering our services to our clients.”

QTEC is currently undertaking work in the North Sea, the Gulf of Mexico, West Africa, Australia and the Far East. It recently secured a three-year contract for work in the environmentally sensitive Barents Sea, and a three well contract for a land drilling project in Pakistan.

Based in Aberdeen, QTEC International provides audit and drilling fluid-handling and containment services to oil and gas operators and drilling contractors globally. QTEC currently employs 34 staff and is undertaking projects in West Africa, Asia, the North Sea and the US Gulf of Mexico.
