Rainbow Heavy Bags PSV Duo

Rainbow Heavy Bags PSV Duo

Rainbow Heavy Industries (RHI) has won a contract to build two, plus an option for two more, platform supply vessels (PSVs) of the Ulstein PX121 design for the Norwegian shipowner Golden Engergy Offshore (GEO).

The contract for the two PSVs is worth around $57 million, but could reach a total of $113 million if options are exercised.

Since 2012 when the first PX121 vessel was put into operation, this X-BOW® hull line design from Ulstein has become very popular among various ship-owners and investment companies.

Measuring 83.4 metres in length and 18 metres in breadth, the PSV can accommodate up to 30 persons and meets the requirements of DNV’s Clean Design notation.

The vessel has a load capacity of approximately 4,000 tonnes and a cargo deck of 840 square metres. Maximum speed is stipulated to 14.5 knots.

Furthermore, the X-BOW has unique, advantageous qualities in terms of motion and propulsion efficiency in moderate and heavy seas.

The first vessel is slated for delivery in November 2015.
