Red Eléctrica de España S.A.U. Invites Tenders for Subsea Cable Survey Services

Red Eléctrica de España S.A.U. announces tender invitation for the provision of subsea cable survey services in Spain.

The contract undertakes the following geophysical studies:

– High resolution bathymetry MBES plus high resolution sub-bottom profiler (SBP) by Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV);

– REE existing submarine power cables from the Spanish Peninsula (Valencia) to Mallorca and possible other cables in the Balearic region, plus analysis of results and comparison with previous data.

These studies are aimed at evaluating the status of the cables at or beneath the sea bottom and taking corrective measures if needed.

The works include geophysical surveys of existing cable routes totaling 709 ln. km from Sagunto (Valencia) to Santa Ponsa (Mallorca), with the maximum depth of approx. 1,500 mwd, 168 ln. km from Mallorca to Menorca (max depth 70 mwd) and 27km from Ibiza to Formentera (max depth 50 mwd).

The above figures are subject to decrease/increase depending on the decision whether to cover the first 709km or the total 904km.

The deadline for submission of tenders is June 30, 2013.
