Rem Fortune PSV Delivered (Norway)

Earlier this month Kleven  delivered the platform supply vessel Rem Fortune to Rem Offshore. The ship was christened at Kleven’s Ulsteinvik shipyard on 15th May by June Wågsholm Rooney and will enter a long-term contract with energy company ConocoPhillips.Kleven and Rem Offshore have a working relationship stretching back to January 2006, when the shipbuilder produced its first vessel, also named Rem Fortune, for the offshore shipping specialist. Since then Kleven has delivered a total of 14 vessels for the business.

“We are delighted to have expanded our fleet with yet another Kleven-built vessel,” remarks Åge Remøy, Rem Offshore CEO. “This is a ship we are already familiar with and it has been well-received in the marketplace. Last year we received two other vessels of this type from Kleven – Rem Fortress and Rem Commander – and they have proven to be reliable and effective vessels for both us and our customers.”

Rem Fortune is a type VS 485 MK III PSV, a design that has been developed further since the delivery of Rem Fortress and Rem Commander. New refinements include optimised lines, which help reduce fuel consumption.

“We value the close cooperation we have with Rem very highly,” comments Ståle Rasmussen, CEO of Kleven, “and our two organizations are working very well and very efficiently together.”

The latest vessel, there are a further three in the order book to be delivered to Rem in June this year and in February and May 2014, is the first to be handed over with the Conning Information Display System from Kleven Maritime Technology (KMT).

“The Conning Information Display System is a new development from KMT and has been provided as a free-standing Kleven product,” says Trond Liavaag, Managing Director of KMT.

Liavaag continues: “The system displays the ship’s vital data, including progress and movement patterns, and is based on a completely new graphic platform that has been designed with a focus on creating a user-friendly and intuitive graphic interface. Some features of note include, for example, the display of rotational movements such as propeller and wind direction against historical movement patterns.”

Rem Fortune has light Ice Class and meets DNV requirements for Clean Design. The 85 meter long vessel has a maximum speed of over 15 knots, a loading area on the deck of around 1,000 square meters and accommodation capacity for 22 people. Rem Fortune also boasts Comfort Class 3, meaning it adheres to requirements for reduced noise and vibration levels
