Rem Offshore sells platform supplier

Norwegian offshore supply shipping company Rem Offshore has sold one of its platform supply vessels that will, following the sale, leave the offshore service vessel market.

The PSV Rem Star was sold through Rem Offshore’s subsidiary Rem Star AS to an unnamed, international customer.

Rem said on Monday that the delivery of the vessel to the new owner will take place shortly.

The company further added that, after the sale, Rem Star will leave the offshore service vessel market and will be operated within the fishing industry.

The PSV of a UT 755 LC design was built in 2009 by Simek AS in Norway. The vessel is 76.60 m long and 76.60 m wide with accommodation for 41 persons.

According to the company, the vessel has more power than normal UT 755 type on main propellers and bow thrusters and a foundation for 20 t crane on starboard side.

Back in July this year, Rem announced a merger with another shipping company from Norway, Solstad Offshore, in order to weather the tough times in the the industry.
