RS Discusses Opportunities in Japan

The special focus of the exhibition were the advanced global environment protection technologies including the development of diesel engines with low pollutant emission to the atmosphere, hi-tech energy saving devices and technologies such as air lubrication systems for ship hulls, solar batteries for ships and ecologically clean coatings.

RS experts held meetings with a broad range of representatives from the major Japanese marine equipment and service suppliers, YANMAR, DAIHATSU, KOBE STEEL, NIIGATA POWER SYSTEMS to name a few, as well as a number of ship repair yards.

During the exhibition, the RS stand was visited by Naoto Nakagawa, a representative of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan. According to him, the high quality of products and services delivered by Japanese companies currently enables them to compete with the enterprises of China and South Korea.

As a result, a growing number of orders from Russian shipping companies for equipment and materials of Japanese production is observed. In this connection, Naoto Nakagawa discussed with the RS representatives the opportunities and advantages of setting up a RS Representation in Japan, noting the interest of Japanese companies in the development of business relationship with the Russian classification society both in the sphere of materials and items manufacture survey, and in ship repair.
