Sandbank Gets TÜV SÜD Project Certificate

TÜV SÜD has issued the Project Certificate according to the German BSH Standard for the 288MW Sandbank offshore wind farm in the German North Sea.

The certificate was issued in early April, a little over two months after the wind farm was fully commissioned.

One week prior to the commissioning, MPI Adventure and Siemens installed the last of the 72 Siemens 4MW turbines at the site. The project was completed three months ahead of the originally planned time schedule.

The investment costs for the Sandbank offshore wind farm were around EUR 1.2 billion. Vattenfall holds a 51% stake in Sandbank Offshore GmbH, which was set up to implement the project, while Stadtwerke München (SWM) holds a 49% stake.

Sandbank, located 90 kilometers west of the island of Sylt, is the second joint offshore wind project for Vattenfall and SWM. Together with the fully commissioned sister-project DanTysk, the wind farms provide a combined portfolio of 576 MW of installed generation capacity.
