SeaBird to Conduct 2D Seismic Survey in Celtic Sea Offshore Ireland

The Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport has been advised that SeaBird Exploration, on behalf of Spectrum Geo Limited, is scheduled to carry out a 2D seismic survey in the Celtic Sea off the South Coast of Ireland.

2D seismic survey in the Celtic Sea

The survey is expected to commence at the beginning of June 2013 and, weather permitting, will continue until the end of July 2013.

The seismic acquisition will be carried out by the seismic vessel “M/V HARRIER EXPLORER”, which will be accompanied at all times by guard vessel “M/V NOMAD”.

The proposed survey consists of 3,570 km of a 2D seismic survey over the Celtic Basin.

The survey vessel “M/V HARRIER EXPLORER” will tow a single solid 8km streamer. The vessel will travel at 4–5 knots and the streamer will be located approximately 9 meters below the surface. Turning diameter of 5km approximately is required.

All vessels will be listening on VHF CH 16 throughout the project.
