Seanergy Maritime Buys Capesize Duo

Greek dry bulk shipping company Seanergy Maritime Holdings Corp. confirmed that it has purchased two secondhand Capesize bulk carriers, each with a cargo-carrying capacity of around 180,000 dwt.

Built at South Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries shipyard in 2010, the vessels were bought for a price of USD 20.75 million each.

The company said that the new bulkers are expected to be delivered between mid-November 2016 and early January 2017, subject to the satisfaction of certain customary closing conditions.

Seanergy Maritime expects to fund the gross purchase price by secured loans from financial institutions and financing arrangements with its sponsor.

According to data provided by VesselsValue, the ships in question are the ER Bayern and ER Bavaria, which feature a length of 292 meters and a width of 45 meters.

The vessels are a part of Hamburg-based ship management company E.R. Schiffahrt’s fleet of 20 bulk carriers which have a total carrying capacity of 2.2 million dwt.
