Seatrans Opts For DNV GL’s Fleet Performance Management Kit

Norwegian company Seatrans Ship Management has signed up 20 vessels to the DNV GL fleet performance management solution ECO Insight.

The contract covers 13 chemical tankers and seven dry-cargo vessels, DNV GL said.

“We need to have full insight into the performance of our fleet and use this to continually improve our operations. ECO Insight will help us to achieve this,” said Gisle Rong, Managing Director Seatrans Ship Management.

DNV GL’s performance management portal ECO Insight is said to enrich customers’ own fleet reports with industry data, such as Automatic Identification System (AIS), weather, or fuel.

Advanced engineering methods, for example hull fouling prediction based on CFD, are also packaged into the portal, according to DNV GL.

“We are very pleased to welcome Seatrans Ship Management to the ECO Insight family. Our solution has been implemented on more than 750 vessels so far, many of them are tanker companies,” said Torsten Büssow, Head of Fleet Performance Management at DNV GL.

Seatrans Ship Management is part of the Seatrans Group, a fully integrated ship owning company with in-house chartering and operations, ship management and crewing.

Seatrans is engaged in the transportation of chemicals and LPG in the North Sea and Mediterranean with stainless steel parcel tankers.

Through Sea-Cargo, the company provides RoRo/container liner and logistics service in the North Sea and in the transportation of newsprint.
