South Korean shipbuilder Samsung Heavy Industries on Friday informed it has won an order to build two liquefied natural gas carriers for an unnamed European shipowner.

The company added that the 180,000-cbm liquefied natural gas carriers will be the first vessels featuring GTT’s Mark V containment system.

According to SHI’s statement, the order is valued at 420 billion Won (Approximately US$382 million).

SHI was recently reported to be the favorite to win a $2.5 billion deal to build an FLNG unit for Eni of Italy leading a consortium comprising LNG engineers Technip of France and Japan’s JGC in a project with a total value of $5.4 billion.
