Skangass Delivers LNG Cargo to Spain

Norwegian LNG producer and distributor Skangass made a delivery of one full cargo of LNG to CEPSA Gas Comercializadora in Spain on February 28th. The small cargo was supplied into the Reganosa LNG terminal in Port Ferrol after transport by the LNG Carrier “Coral Energy”, which has a capacity of 15,600 cbm.

Skangass, which is mainly active in the small-scale industrial and marine markets, currently has spare capacity in its production plant in Stavanger, making it possible to sell spot cargoes. The current price levels in the LNG spot market are enabling a small-scale producer such as Skangass to be competitive as an LNG source.

“We are very happy for this opportunity to supply the Spanish market and to utilize the current spare capacity in our production and shipping”, says Peter Blomberg, Director of Special Projects at Skangass. “We are already making arrangements to send a second cargo to Spain in March.”

Blomberg adds that the prime new LNG Carrier “Coral Energy” has shown excellent performance since she came into operation in late January 2013, and that she has already supplied cargoes to the terminals in Fredrikstad (Norway), Nynäshamn (Sweden) and Port Ferrol (Spain) from the production plant in Stavanger: “We have several companies that have shown interest in buying cargoes from Skangass in the past month and we will follow up these opportunities closely, while ramping up the production in Stavanger to meet the increasing demand.”
