SMP Supplies Containerised Diving Systems to MoD UK

Submarine Manufacturing and Products (SMP) have delivered two 20ft DNV containerised diving systems (CDS) to Ministry of Defence (UK).

The CDS supplied to Ministry of Defence was based on a past design created by SMP with added bespoke requirements requested by the MOD to meet their specific needs.

The containerised diving systems are made up of various different components including workshop area, dive control, 3 diver panel, cylinder quads and standby diver area. The CDS is designed to Lloyds Register of shipping or DNV design approval, and in compliance with IMCA D023 and IMCA D018 regulations as standard.

James Griffiths, Staff Officer at the Ministry Of Defence, said: “SMP have proven themselves to be the clear market leader in delivery of projects such as the two new dive controls I project managed. The attention to detail in their initial tender submission coupled with an intimate knowledge of their own products ensured the submission and tender award process went very smoothly. The build phase and subsequent delivery also progressed extremely well; this was mainly due to the expertise of the design and engineering staff coupled with regular progress meetings and concise feedback from the sales department.”

Mark Peloe, sales manager at Submarine Manufacturing and Products, said: “I must say that this particular project has been a pleasure to be involved with, from the original SOTR, it was clear that James had a definite view of what was required and this was thoughtfully laid out in the document with very few ambiguities. James’s willingness to come to visit and sit down with members of our various departments; sales, design and manufacture ensured that everybody was aware of his requirements and needs. Offering concise and technically sound feedback to any questions raised, he was able to listen and understand differing opinions with regards to best layouts for the equipment. This helped with the successful progression of the project, making it great to work on.”
