SOL Sets Up Latvia-Belgium-UK RoRo Service

Gothenburg-based shipping company Swedish Orient Line (SOL) plans to launch a new, weekly roll on/roll off (RoRo) service between Ventspils (Latvia), Zeebrugge (Belgium) and Tilbury (UK), starting from end-January.

The new service is said to expand the company’s activities from its hub in Zeebrugge.

“In our existing service on North Finland we have one sailing across the channel from Zeebrugge to Tilbury and vice versa. Along with the new route, SOL adds a second crossing to this service as well“, Ragnar Johansson, Managing Director, SOL, said.

The service to Ventspils will also be connected with Teesport and Hull (UK) via Pan-European ferry operator P&O Ferries.

Cargo types on the new route will be trailers, containers and other rolling cargo as well as break-bulk cargo loaded on roll trailers, according to the company.

SOL offers services connecting North Finland with Germany, the Benelux and the UK as well as between West Sweden, the Benelux and the UK.

In 2015, the company started a partnership with P&O Ferries, combining services between the UK, the Benelux and Scandinavia.
