South Korea April LNG imports decline

South Korea, the world’s second-largest buyer of LNG, imported 2.84 million tonnes of LNG in April, down 11 percent from the same month in 2014, customs data shows.

The country’s imports of the chilled gas in the first quarter of 2015 dropped 20.2 percent to 10.18 million tonnes, as compared to the same period a year ago.

Most of the LNG imports in April came from Qatar (1.12 million tonnes), down 22 percent as compared to March in 2014.

The rest of South Korea’s LNG imports in April were sourced from Indonesia, Oman, Malaysia, Nigeria, Oman, Brunei, Russia (59 percent rise on year), Yemen, Australia, and Equatorial Guinea.
