South Korea: GasLog names LNG duo

LNG shipping company GasLog held a naming ceremony on March 22 for its two LNG tankers at the Samsung Heavy Industries shipyard in South Korea.

The 174,000 cbm tri-fuel diesel electric (TFDE) carriers were named “GasLog Greece” and “GasLog Glasgow”.

Once delivered during the year, both LNG tankers will start transporting chilled gas under a charter deal GasLog has with Methane Services Limited, a subsidiary of Shell, following the acquisition of BG Group by Shell.

GasLog s wholly-owned fleet consists of 19 vessels, with 11 vessels on the water and eight on order, according to the company’s website.

The Monaco-based company recently said it is mulling several options to convert its steam and TFDE LNG carriers into FSRU vessels. GasLogĀ is carrying out a front-end engineering and design (FEED) study at the Keppel shipyard in Singapore.
