In today’s spotted we bring you a newly opened floating dock, located in Mina Zayed, UAE, and owned by Abu Dhabi Ship Building PJSC (ADSB), a provider of construction, repair and refit services for naval, military and commercial vessels.

The floating dock was commissioned in mid-July and received its first customer that has undergone routine drydocking, electrical and mechanical works at the port, according to ADSB.

The new floating drydock is said to allow ADSB to service ships that were previously too large to be handled at its headquarters in Mussafah.

Featuring a length of 180 meters and a width of 30 meters, the floating drydock enables ADSB to dock vessels up to 180 meters in length, or by comparison almost the length of two football pitches.

“The new floating dock offers a myriad of services including structural steel, mechanical, pipe and electrical repairs, state of the art hull treatment with the aid of robotic machines and tank coating work,” the company said.
