Norwegian shipping company Torvald Klaveness has taken delivery of MV Ballard, an 80,500 dwt CABU combination carrier, from Chinese shipbuilder Zhejiang Ouhua Shipbuilding.

The Panamax bulk carrier, which has a length of 228.4 meters and a width of 32.3 meters, is the third in a series of three CABU carriers ordered in 2013 and 2014.

The first two ships, MV Balboa and MV Baffin, were handed over to the company in 2016.

According to Klaveness, this second-generation combination carrier has been designed with a water ballast treatment system, improved software for performance monitoring and trim optimization as well as fuel saving electrical motors and auxiliary engines.

With the new generation of combination carriers, Klaveness intends to expand its combination carrier business venturing into new cargoes and new line trades.
