Spotted: Xin Guang Hua Loads Maiden Cargo


In today’s spotted we present you M/V Xin Guang Hua, which is said to be the second largest semi-submersible vessel in the world, loading its maiden cargo consisting of barges with modules.

In December 2016, the 98,400 dwt ship was delivered to China’s shipping company Cosco Shipping Specialized Carriers from the COMEC shipyard in Guangzhou.

The heavy lift vessel is 255 meters long and 68 meters wide, VesselsValue’s data shows.

Featuring an unobstructed deck space with a length of 211 meters and a width of 68 meters, Xin Guang Hua can transport fully integrated offshore floating production units weighing up to 85,000 tons, according to Cosco.

The shipping firm revealed that the Hong Kong-flagged vessel has already secured multiple contracts including Shell’s Appomattox hull, which will be transported from South Korea to Ingleside, Texas, in 2017.
