SRG secures Kuwait LNG storage tanks job

Australian services company, SRG Limited has been contracted by Hyundai Engineering and Construction to provide specialist contracting services for eight new LNG tanks in Kuwait.

SRG’s managing director, David Macgeorge, said the A$26.5 million ($21 million) deal signals the company’s progress in the development of its international business.

Under the contract, SRG will be responsible for post-tensioning eight LNG storage tanks which are a core part of the Al Zour LNG import project in Kuwait.

Once fully operational, the facility is expected to produce approximately 22 million metric tons of natural gas per year and will have a storage capacity of 1.8 million cubic meters of LNG.

The facility being built by the South Korean consortium comprising Hyundai E&C, Hyundai Engineering and Korea Gas Corporation (Kogas).

The construction of the facility is scheduled to last 58 months and be completed in 2020.
