Strengthening the Dutch-Chinese Ties

Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte has paid a two-day official visit to China to further strengthen diplomatic and economic ties.

Rutte, who held talks with President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Keqiang and National People’s Congress chairman Zhang Dejiang, aims to strengthen the ties between the two countries.

The trade between China and the Netherlands was worth a total of €39.5 billion ($53.3 billion) in 2012.

During a dinner in Bejing, at which Dutch and Chinese business leaders met with the Prime Minister and each other, Mr Rutte spoke with Mr Perry Rikkers, general manager of the production facilities of Damen Marine Components Suzhou.

DMC Suzhou is part of Damen Shipyards Group, which has a strong presence in China. The factory in Suzhou builds propeller nozzles and other propulsion parts for both worldwide clients and for Damen’s shipbuilding facilities in China.
