Subsea Cables Between Taiwan’s Kinmen and China’s Xiamen to Enter Service by Year’s End

Taiwan’s Chunghwa Telecom Co. announces that the two undersea cables between Taiwan’s Kinmen Island and China’s Xiamen City are expected to enter service by the end of this year, reports Taiwan News.

Chunghwa Telecom stated that the fibre cables have been built on local exchange facilities from their two locations on the northwestern coast of Kinmen Island.

The cable project is a joint venture between Chunghwa Telecom and China’s three main telecom operators – China Telecom, China Unicom and China Mobile.

According to Chunghwa Telecom the construction of the submarine cables is still ongoing, and the cables will emerge on Xiamen Island and the city’s Dadeng Island.

The Telecom expects the communication cables to enter service by the end of this year, after the building process is fully finalized and the operations are approved by Taiwan’s National Communications Commission.
