The Australiasian Oil and Gas Exhibition and Conference, Australia’s largest oil and gas event, is underway at Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre from 20-22 February 2013. The AOG Conference kicked off today at 9am local time, while the exhibition doors opened at 11am.

Here are the first impressions from day one, as described on the event’s official blog:

“The doors have just closed on a very successful first day of AOG 2013. Exhibitors were surprised by the number of people who turned up early and only a few minutes after the 11am opening time, the centre was awash with visitors.

Perth locals, people from all over the country as well as numerous internationals turned out to see the latest in oil and gas technology, practices and trends. Visitors were pleased to get out of the 38 degree heat and enjoyed the wonderful cool air-conditioned comfort the Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre had to offer.

Highlights were in abundance across the show floor with many exhibitors going to extreme lengths to make their company and its products stand out. Models, of the miniature kind, were a constant theme among stands, with those that included lights and moving parts garnering frequent attention.

The Neptune stand had a live scuba diver in a see-through tank conducting demonstrations as well as a remote-controlled submarine visitors could control during the diver’s absence.

The conferences have also proved popular with hundreds of delegates showing up for both the AOG and the Subsea conference offerings.

With the mercury set to again reach 38 degrees tomorrow before cooling down on Friday, Thursday is shaping up to be another busy day at AOG 2013. The exhibition opens at 11am and runs through to 7pm in the evening.”
