TOS Delivers Two Rotor Tugs to Antwerp, Belgium

Last weekend the T.O.S. crew reached the port of destination Antwerp for the delivery of the SMIT KIWI and SMIT EMOE. The crew left the port of Singapore for a 12.700 nm journey to Western Europe last year.

“We are proud to have been awarded for the delivery contract of the rotor tugs. Although T.O.S. personnel has been working on rotor tugs for harbour towing activities in Rotterdam for many years, this is our first rotor driven ship delivery”, says Rolf Kievits, Commercial Manager at T.O.S.

The tugs sailed under full T.O.S. management and in close cooperation with SMIT. Due to the type of vessel and the travel distance the delivery crew made up a voyage and towing plan. During the stopover at Las Palmas, Spain, two chief engineers of URS joined the delivery crew. Later on also two captains of URS boarded at Vigo, Spain. During the last part of the delivery the URS crew was able to get familiar with the new build rotor tugs. At the port of Antwerp Patrick de Jong and Danny de Munter (SMIT Towage), Rolf Kievits and Dennis van der Waal (T.O.S.) were present to welcome the delivery crews of both the SMIT KIWI and SMIT EMOE.
