Officials Deny Report on Toxic Land Reclamation Materials

The Taipei City Government has denied allegation that the filler materials being used in a land reclamation project at the Port of Taipei are likely to be pollutans, according to focustaiwan.tw.

The city’s Department of Environmental Protection said it subjects the waste to a variety of inspections, including sample tests for heavy metal residue, before it is used in the reclamation project.

So far, all the waste has passed the tests, the department said.
