Tallink Invests in Silja Europa Cruise Ferry Renewal

Estonian shipping company Tallink has invested over EUR 16 million (USD 17.7 million) into renewing the 1993-built passenger ferry Silja Europa, which is returning to Helsinki-Tallinn route on December 12, 2016. 

The works on the 202-meter long ferry will include an upgrade of the entire interior including 1,016 cabins, 5 restaurants and bars and conference area.

The ship, which is able to accommodate 3,123 passengers, will start sailing on Helsinki, Finland, – Tallinn, Estonia, route with a cruising schedule of departing from Helsinki every day at 18:30, arriving to Tallinn at 22:00 and departing from Tallinn the next afternoon at 12:30 and arriving to Helsinki at 16:00.

Tallink said it transports almost 5 million passengers on Helsinki-Tallinn route every year. Apart from the cruise ferry Silja Europa, the company also operates two fast ferries under Tallink Shuttle brand on this route.

In 2017, Tallink plans to introduce a new, environmentally friendly LNG-driven fast ferry Megastar to the route.
