Technip Scoops Hywind Contract
Statoil has awarded Technip Norway a contract for marine operations at Hywind Scotland Pilot Park project.
The floating wind turbine park will be located 30 kilometers off the coast of Aberdeenshire, North East Scotland.
The project is a result of the Hywind Demo project where Statoil and Technip worked together to install the world’s first floating wind turbine which has been in operation on the west coast of Norway since 2009.
The offshore wind farm will consist of five 6MW floating wind turbines anchored at 100 meters water depth. Each turbine will have a height of more than 180 meters and a wingspan at 154 meters.
Technip’s scope of work includes the transportation of substructures from Spain to Norway and preparations for the installation of top sections and generators. Technip will also be responsible for towing, mooring operations and connection of wind turbines off the coast of Scotland.
Technip’s operating center in Oslo will perform project management and all necessary engineering. Offshore work will be completed in 2017.
