The contract is for the charter and the provision of multibeam echo sounders survey work in the Republic of Colombia for the Anadarko Colombia Company project.

The survey is expected to last approximately 50 days and the works are expected to be completed in August, 2014. The contract value is approximately USD1.7m.

Anadarko, a U.S.-based independent oil company, is conducting preparatory works which will eventually lead up to a multi-well drilling program offshore Colombia, expected to begin in late 2014.

Last year, the Teknik Perdana vessel caught media attention when the vessel, along with its crew was seized by the Venezuelan navy on the grounds that the vessel had been operating illegally within the Venezuelan territorial waters.

The vessel and the crew were subsequently released, and the government of the nearby Guyana issued a response to the accusations by Caracas, claiming that the vessel had operated in the Guyanese waters and not in Venezuela.

According to the data found on the Marine Traffic website, the Teknik Perdana, built in 1974, is already located in the Carribean Sea, offshore Colombia.
