China Cosco Holdings Co (CCHC) said it has entered into deals for a total of ten boxships worth USD 420.4 million.

Cosco has ordered six 81,600-dwt kamsarmaxes worth $188.88m in total, 31.4 million each, through its Prosperity Investment unit. The kamsarmaxes will be built by Chengxi Shipyard with expected delivery starting from 2016 to 2017.

The company has ordered four 208,000-dwt Newcastlemaxes at Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding for a total price of USD 231.16 million, 57.9 million each.

Delivery of the four 208,000 DWT bulk carriers is expected to take place in 2017, subject to the advancement and delay of delivery time, CCHC said in a stock exchange filing.

Last week CCHC ordered construction of five giant 14,500 TEU container ships, thus increasing the newbuilding ships’ capacity from the previously announced 14,000 TEU.

The vessels will be constructed by China Shipbuilding Trading and Changxing Shipbuilding for an aggregate sum of USD 618 million.
