The cabinet, headed by Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, approved the Thai Navy’s plan to procure the 3,700-ton ship with the price tag of $486 million. Under the proposal, the Navy will contract Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering to build the frigate that will include the latest stealth technology.

Construction of the frigate will start later this year with the completion deadline set for 2018.
