The Netherlands: Matecs Hands Over HD Shore Valves

Matecs Hands Over HD Shore Valves

In July 2014 Matecs B.V. from Roosendaal successfully delivered over 20 heavy duty shore valves (40 bars water pressure) to some global dredging companies.

The HD valves Ø 1000 mm were engineered in-house, at the Roosendaal premises (by Matecs’ sister company Wear & Tear Solutions) and were fully constructed, machined, assembled and thoroughly tested by Matecs under the same roof.

The most important adjustment compared to the current generation of shore valves, concerns the gate sealing and the adjustment of the slide guidance in such a way that it can withstand the huge pressures without leakage. Additional attention was given to the guidance-material for the locking of the gate. Matecs fitted extra material which can be replaced.

The people from Matecs also studied the pretension of the seal of the valve, resulting in a minimisation of the wear of the seal during movement of the valve. These seals are executed with a patented sealing lip construction of different polyurethane qualities (with extra additions), to seal everything well and wear proof with less friction even when dealing with high pressures.

The hydraulic cylinders are mounted in a special hinged way, to ensure proper sealing, even when the movement of the hydraulic system is not synchronical.

At the moment, Matecs can produce shore valves with diameters ranging from Ø 700-Ø 1100 mm, capable of withstanding water pressures up to 40 bars.
