Tomini Shipping Sails into New Year with a Hat-Trick

UAE-based Tomini Shipping, the shipping subsidiary of Tomini Group, has started the new year with a hat-trick, having welcomed three new Ultramaxes into the fleet on the same day.

The three bulk carriers, all featuring over 63,000 dwt, are named Tomini Prosperity, Tomini Liberty and Tomini Dynasty.

The three brand new ships were named and delivered on January 3, 2018 at a ceremony hosted by China’s Cosco Shipping.

“We aim to become a specialist in selected dry bulk vessel segments namely Ultramaxes and Kamsarmaxes, we have confidence in the sector and remain committed to growing a diverse fleet to meet global transportation needs,” Imtiaz Shaikh, Chairman of Tomini Group, said.

Tomini Shipping has six new vessels on order.

In November 2017, the company placed an order for three 82,000 dwt Kamsarmaxes with the Chinese shipbuilder Taizhou Kouan Shipbuilding.

The vessels are scheduled for delivery in the second half of 2019 onwards and follow the company’s order from June for three newbuilding bulk carriers placed with China’s CIC (Jiangsu) shipyard.

The 64,000 dwt Ultramaxes ordered at CIC are set for delivery in the first quarter of 2019.

Based on Tomini Shipping’s website data the current fleet is comprised of nine bulkers.
