Total hires Solstad’s PSV Normand Aurora

Norwegian offshore service and shipping company Solstad Offshore has been awarded a contract for one of its platform supply vessels (PSV) by Total E&P UK.

Solstad said on Thursday that the contract with Total is for the PSV Normand Aurora for a firm period of 90 days, starting this week.

The contract may be extended with an additional three one-month extension options.

The company added that the commercial terms between the parties were confidential.

The Normand Aurora, an Ulstein P105 design PSV, was built in 2005 by Merwede Shipyard. The vessel is 86.20 meters long, 18.80 meters wide and has a deadweight of 4,249 tonnes. The Normand Aurora can accommodate 24 people and has a 966-square meter deck.

According to current AIS data, the vessel is positioned just a few miles offshore the port in Cromarty, Scotland.

In related news, Offshore Energy Today reported on Monday that Solstad would join Deep Sea Supply and Farstad Shipping in creating a new ‘world class’ offshore supply vessel company in Norway with a fleet of 154 vessels.
