Japanese car parts manufacturer Toyoda Gosei said it has installed liquefied natural gas equipment at its Morimachi plant and switching boiler fuel from heavy oil to LNG.

The Morimachi plant in Shizuoka produces weatherstrips and other rubber automotive parts.

The company said it is also planning to switch the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) currently used in the heating furnaces in production processes to LNG by February 2018.

According to the company’statement, the switch to LNG will bring the combined annual carbon dioxide (CO2) emission reduction of about 2,000 tons.

Toyoda Gosei set long-term environmental goals and the switch to LNG at the Morimachi plant is a part of that effort.
