Tufton Oceanic Buys Six Second-Hand Ships

UK’s fund management company Tufton Oceanic has added two Handy bulk carriers, purchased from US-based Apex Bulk Carriers LLC for a total of USD 19.5 million, according to data provided by VesselsValue.

The 34,400 dwt Lisa J and 35,000 dwt Steven C were built in 2010 and 2009 at South Korea’s Goseong Shipyard.

Bought on September 9, the vessels are the latest ones purchased as part of the company’s shopping spree.

Namely, earlier in September Tufton Oceanic purchased a 19,700 dwt small chemical parcel tanker Diamond Orchid for a price of over USD 20 million. The company’s other purchases included two 61,400 dwt Ultramax bulk carriers, Jin Han and Jin Ming, built in 2011 and 2010, respectively.

Furthermore, the company bought another 19,700 dwt small chemical parcel tanker Princimar Americas at the end of August. The 2004-built tanker was purchased for USD 18.5 million from US-based Principal Maritime.

Tufton Oceanic currently operates a fleet of 26 vessels with an average age of 11 years and a market value of USD 279.3 million, excluding the recently purchased ships, VesselsValue data shows.
