Tufton Oceanic Tied to Purchase of Seven Boxships

UK-based shipowner Tufton Oceanic has reportedly reached an agreement to buy seven Sub-Panamax containerships from Germany’s shipping company Hartmann Schiffahrts.

According to data provided by VesselsValue, the vessels in question are Frisia Helsinki, Frisia Kiel, Frisia Lissabon, Frisia Lubeck, Frisia Rostock, Frisia Rotterdam and Frisia Wismar, all of which have a capacity of 2,478 TEU.

Built by German shipyard Wadan Yards MTW, six vessel from the batch were constructed in 2004, while the remaining one was built in 2005.

It is understood that the purchase contract has a value of around USD 50 million.

When asked about the agreement, Tufton Oceanic told World Maritime News that it does not comment on market rumors.

Once handed over, the ships will become a part of Tufton Oceanic’s fleet, which currently consist of 43 vessels.
