Turkey: ANADOLU Shipyard LCT Sets New Speed Record

ANADOLU Shipyard LCT Sets New Speed Record

The Third vessel of Landing Ship Tanks (LCT) Project undertaken by ANADOLU Shipyard with SSM (Turkish Undersecretariat of Defense Industries) for Turkish Naval Forces, namely NB 226 / Ç-153 has set a new speed record while cruising for Sea Trials in Aegean Sea.

The vessel with the 1,040 tons displacement despite the bad weather conditions, stern wind with the speed of around 20 knots, managed to reach the speed of 22,0 knots.

This speed, although it was not realized at full displacement, has set a new record for Landing Craft Tanks (LCT) built by ANADOLU Shipyard.

The design speed of ANADOLU Shipyard LCT at full displacement is around 18 knots, while during the Sea Trials the vessel easily achieved a speed of 18.5 knots.

The ship is a mono-hull type vessel, all steel construction, designed to meet the speed, sea keeping maneuverability and stability requirements of Turkish Naval Forces Command. The expected service life will be 30 years.
