UAE: ACI Offers Chance to Review Growing Threat at Sea

The 3rd Maritime Piracy and Security Conference organised by Active Communications International (ACI) on the 1st and 2nd February 2012 in Dubai, UAE will focus on the latest solutions to counter the ever-present threat of international piracy.

The threat of piracy attacks is increasing. Geographically the spread of activity is wider and more unpredictable than ever: ransoms being demanded and paid are breaking new records. As long as it continues, piracy becomes an increasingly real threat for every vessel.

The object of the conference is to galvanise an effective collective response to piracy and security threats with coordinated policies that can be effectively implemented. Topics covered will address the global trends of piracy (with a focus on the high risk areas), Best Management Practices to safeguard your cargo, crew and vessel, as well as integrating armed security units onboard, to name just a few.

As well as the ship owners, coalition forces, coastguards and naval forces will discuss their future strategies of protection. Armed with knowledge, the participants will be able to identify the long term solutions and best practical responses to safeguard their cargo, crew and vessels.

ACI have assembled an impressive range of speakers for the event including: Nick Davis, CEO – Merchant Maritime Warfare Centre; Ajay Chitnis, Head – Corporate Human Resources, Administration And Training – Great Offshore; Peter Cook – SAMI (Security Association for the Maritime Industry); Ranjit Rai, Vice President – Indian Maritime Foundation; Andrew Mwangura, Head of Security – East African Seafarers Assistance Programme and many others.
