Drydocks World Wins Prestigious Business Award

Drydocks World has received the prestigious 7th Cycle Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Award in the Manufacturing Category. The award held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai is the highest level of national recognition for excellence in business performance that an organization in the UAE can receive.

The award was presented at a gala ceremony organised by Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry at Madinat Jumeirah Mina A’Salam Hotel, Dubai, UAE on November 13, 2013. The event was graced by H.H. Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai. Local and international business leaders as well as top executives attended the Ceremony to recognize and celebrate the Award winners.

The organization was evaluated by a team of assessors for its current practices and was benchmarked with the best in class business practices to verify their compliance with the award criteria. An international and independent panel of judges, chaired by H. E. Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansouri, UAE Minister of Economy, reviewed and endorsed the list of winners.

His Excellency Khamis Juma Buamim, Chairman of Drydocks World & Maritime World received the Award. He said “We are extremely proud to have received this prestigious Award for our business performance and contribution to the economic development of the country. We believe in systematically using best practices and quality management principles and tools for achieving excellence in all areas of our business and operations. We have adopted a holistic approach along with a cohesive strategic planning process with a strong customer and market focus and have in place techniques and tools for measuring and benchmarking business performance on a constant basis. I must admit that these have served us well and this recognition will encourage us to work even harder and put in even greater efforts for continuous improvement.

Drydocks World has worked on pioneering projects such as the world’s largest turret for Shell’s Prelude FLNG in Australia, the Solan subsea storage tank – one of the largest – for Premier Oil in the UK, the gigantic DolWin beta HVDC Offshore Platform Structure for wind energy farms off Germany and the conversion of tankers-to-Modular Capture Vessels for AET Ship Management in the Gulf of Mexico.
